August 5, 2020And there you have it! What did you think? What does this all mean! Thanks so much for reading and following the mystery- we hope you're ready for more!
August 6, 2020Man, I've been thinking this over for more than a day, and I still can't make any sense out of it. Some kind of magic/alien tech booby trap, but why? Last we saw the two brothers (cousins?) was here:
http://thepalecomic.com/comics/165/
when Chad was threatening to drag Ronnie to his mother and tell her about his stealing. And Chad wanted Nate's name, so he could "start fixing your mess".
Planting a booby trap on the dining table <> fixing any mess. It got the wrong people, for starters - Nate, who was presumably the intended target, was unaffected. And unless Ronnie has some very unusual parentage, I doubt McHenry is his mother. So why is he involved? Why would he care about a stolen pistol? Why this very showy, very attention-getting display?
TBH, when I first saw the stone, I was thinking about this scene:
http://thepalecomic.com/comics/39
where Molly describes granny's dreams of a shadow monster, and how losing the rug would be bad luck. I thought maybe Ronnie (the little sh*t) had wanted to get back at Granny B and stolen the rug. He was looking at it and smirking here:
http://thepalecomic.com/comics/39
So I was thinking some supernatural baddie and not three guys in a truck.
August 6, 2020You're picking up what we're putting down... there are still pieces missing of course!
A lot will be revealed in the next story arc. BUT I can say that Chad and Ronnie are not related. The biggest take away, I think, is that Ronnie is connected to McHenry :)
August 22, 2020Is there any connection to Ft. McHenry, salvation of the nation in 1812 and holding pen for rebels/conscientious objectors with the Supreme Court on their side during the war to free the slaves/the late unpleasantness?
October 6, 2020Still, it doesn't really make any sense to leave nate 'alive', if you assume the goals is to kill.
This only creates more of a mess, and the only obvious people this points to is Ronnie. That is ... if Ronnie survives this... He is the weak link now, in my eyes.
October 6, 2020When I came to this page the first time, shortly after page 7.8 went up, I was so weirded out that I didn't know what to think, much less what I could write in a comment.
I still have no idea. Magic? Alien technology? On page 6.31 my first thought was "magnets under the table!", it might be possible to make a magnetic "stone" suddenly stand up. The spinning would be more difficult but might be still possible with actual human tech.
But then pages 6.32 and 6.33 happened and I'm quite sure there is no way a magnetic stone could do that. Not with any technology I can imagine.
And now.
WHAT!? WHAT ANSWERS WHAT?? What was the question? AND WHAT ABOUT ALL THE REST??? Did they do that? I don't think so. But the coincidence? I have totally zero idea what to make out of all this. Not at this point.

TL;DR - I have no idea what is going on.

As far as McHenry, it was just a name :)
Honzinator
I figured not, but the name kept rattling around in my head.
This is going to be interesting.

Was "the gang" trying to get the kid instead, or any or all of that family?
